“And Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being 110 years old. And they buried him within the boundary of his inheritance in Timnath-heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers, and there arose another generation after them who did not know (recognize, understand) the Lord, or even the work which He had done for Israel.” Judges 2: 8-10

If you want to pass on the ethos and standards of your institution to the next generation; then mentoring, stories, legends and landmarks are important. You must plan for succession deliberately. You have 10 years, before the generational gap becomes a chasm.

Children should become parents before their fathers die. Followers should become leaders and staff should become managers, in their own generation. Moses produced Joshua. Joshua produced no one.
