You founded a company and retain a position as Executive Chairman of the Board. You have controlling shares. You’ve crafted a detailed mission & constitution for the organisation and have committed both to the capable hands of Management to execute.

Unfortunately, Management consistently ignores your mission, breaks the rules of your corporate charter and repeatedly brings the company to the brink of disaster. What would you do? As Chairman of the Board and custodian of the mission & values of the insitution, you would definitely replace Management to save your company. You would then put in place a rigorous change plan to restore it to its former glory.

God has a mission and plan for the earth. Man has just one job – to fulfill that mission. We are not the centre of the earth’s plan. God is. The earth was never about us.

“All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.” Ephesians 1:20‭-‬23 MSG

When sin was originally introduced into the world, grace was set in motion to recalibrate God’s mission. A new constitution was drafted which was replaced by its recent instalment – The New Testament. We are at an intercalation in time. An interregnum, if you will. At some point, it will end. Grace is meant to deal with the problem of sin. It is an outflow of love. Its primary purpose is to ensure as many people as possible are saved before God closes this current earthly chapter and rolls out a new earth.

At several points in time, God will check on the status of his mission and intervene to ensure that his program for the earth continues, as planned. He will raise up and pull down “executives” in line with that agenda. He is also “limited” by time. Time is running out.

As a Church, our role is to preach the Gospel so men can be saved. In addition, we are to disciple nations, promote God’s way of life and ensure his will is done on earth.

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:18‭-‬20 NKJV

I believe this prayer becomes even more valid in today’s times:

“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9‭-‬10 NKJV

There is one more critical role the church is meant to play on earth. It is restraining the spirit of the Antichrist and his coming, so we can delay the end of this version of the earth.

I write about it in Part 2 of my musings.
