I have been doing a lot of thinking about the structure of the present church and how it might evolve.

As I was driving past Dolphin Estate in Lagos State, I saw the Mosque being worked on. I remembered when a fundraiser was going on for the same Mosque. And then I remembered how in Abuja, there was a competition of sorts over fundraising for the Central Mosque and Church.

A word dropped in my heart. The church is not a building. It is a living, dynamic body made up of humans who are connected to Christ and each other. There should be more church happening outside the four walls of buildings than in them. The church will leave buildings. That is the new evolution of the church. I am reminded of the scripture where God promised to exalt his word above his name – his monuments and memorials.

I will be spending more time propagating the word online and in places outside the physical church. I will continue to operate the gifts of the spirit – prophecy, word of wisdom and word of knowledge, in business meetings and in speaking engagements. The world needs them.

I will continue to demonstrate love through giving and charity. Jesus will become much more than a word to the people I meet. He will become a verb. Through me, the world will know the wisdom of God, the compassion of God and the credibility of God. Amen.
