Experience has taught me that no matter how much money I make, if I don’t have good health, wisdom, political influence, loyal staff and contentment, I won’t enjoy the benefits of having money.

No one really teaches you the soft skills that make money fulfilling. Few people tell you about the values you need, the deep relationships you need to build and the protection you require. Most people just tell you, “Hustle oh.”

You will hardly hear about how you need to maintain your mental and physical well being. Or how to build political leverage.

Who reminds you to spend time with God (outside of religious requirements) or to develop a compassionate heart and culture of giving?

The depth you build when you don’t have money serves you well when you finally have money. There’s something about how it centres you and defines your priorities. You also become an excellent judge of character, as you’re able to distinguish sycophants from those who really love you.
