People say you shouldn’t follow the crowd. But when you’re different, you’re called strange or an odd-ball. You’re also left alone.
I’ll never forget the day a “friend” reduced something I’d held dear for over 30 years into something foolish. He made me feel so small. In those moments when you doubt the things you stand for, you either draw closer to God seeking reassurance or away from him seeking popular approval.
Sometimes friends miraculously come into your life who make you feel special. They recognise the beauty in you and highlight those things you thought strange, calling them unique. They ascribe a strength of character to you that you never imagined you had. They validate and celebrate you. I live for such friendships – those extremely rare times someone makes me feel like I chose the right life path.
