There are some hot button topics in the Church. I call them distractions because they keep Christians so busily engaged in vitriolic discourse and condemnation that they can’t focus on greater matters of Love, Cultural Relevance, Social Justice and National Reformation.
These topics include:
- Heaven & Hell
- Old vs. New Testament (Works vs. Grace/Faith)
- Tokens e.g covering of hair, women wearing trousers, use of make up, tatoos, jewelry etc.
- Tithing
- Divorce
- Abortion
- Sex etc.
I find the people who condemn the most love the least. When love fills your heart, you go about doing God’s work and discuss these things not out of a desire to condemn people but simply because of a quest for understanding.
It’s never about what other people are doing or not doing. That’s being a busybody. At the very least, it’s about you or the people in your limited sphere of responsibility or those directly under your care.
