Slowing down to think twice is an important executive skill.
This includes sleeping over things or if the matter is urgent, taking a brief walk to clear your head. It could also mean sending another executive your thoughts first, to get their feedback.
In the last year, I’ve gained more common sense just by slowing down. It has helped me to see possible consequences, be kinder in my responses, and consider other perspectives.
Slow down.
