There are two main responses to injustice – accommodating it or fighting back.
The first option says, “I better adjust, accept reality and do what needs to be done to survive.” This breeds a condescending attitude towards idealists. They are said to, “Not understand” or to be “Impractical”.
The second response to injustice says, “I will accept today’s reality. But, I will actively work towards attaining the leadership, power and influence that are needed to do things differently.” This mindset is open to new possibilities and adopts a collaborative posture.
Of these responses to injustice, the latter is filled with a lot of pain. And, there’s probably only a slight chance of success. But, I often wonder what causes people to choose it.
In the long run, those who choose to fight injustice ensure that the world still produces dignity, compassion and progress.
