Purpose is giving what you have to God.

There are some people who will make a big splash in the world. People like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg or Oprah Winfrey. I am not one of them. What I have is writing. That is my legacy. That is what will live on when I am dead. Writing is my contribution to humanity and so I take it seriously. This explains in part, why I write all the time. It is perhaps the only thing people will remember me for when I’m dead. I am too lazy and introverted for much more. Words are inextricably linked to my purpose, because they are what God has given me and I in turn, have given them back to him.

Speaking has become an extension of my writing. I stopped doing PowerPoints at speaking engagements a long time ago. Instead, I pray beforehand. I spend days just asking God what he’d like to say.

Every time I have the opportunity to stand before people to speak, it is an awesome privilege. It is an opportunity for God to speak to his people. I realised some time ago that the world does not need another motivational speaker. The world does not need complicated strategies and concepts. The world needs God. He knows exactly what will help. So, God and I have a deal. I will provide the platform and access to the people. He will provide the content. I find it works better that way.

What can you give to God?
